Being able to keep the crawl space dry helps to maintain the homes overall health. When water seeps through, it can get absorbed in the insulation or wooden posts which can cause mold and mildew to grow. In order to prevent this from happening, John's Waterproofing offers the Pipe Pump Plastic system which helps keep water out and the crawl space dry. This system begins by completely stripping the crawl space bare. Thus, we are taking out the fallen fiberglass insulation and damaged vapor barrier. Six of the wooden posts present then had to be replaced with SmartJacks. These will not mold or mildew, and are installed to replace the rotting posts that had been present. Then, we install a drainage system using a perforated pipe that goes along the interior perimeter of the crawl space. This pipe collects any water that tries to seep through and then sends it to a SuperSump Plus sump pump. The sump pump takes all the collected water and can safely push it out and away from the homes foundation. For this crawl space, we also installed a new 6 mil vapor barrier and DrainMatt. DrainMatt is a dimpled liner that goes along the base of the crawl space where this home had a concrete slab. It helps the water filter through without getting stuck and sends it to the drainage system. The vapor barrier is a plastic liner placed along the base, over exposed dirt, and up the foundation walls. After this system is installed, the crawl space is protected against water damage and can stay dry and healthy.
