Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Upgrade in Independence, OR
Water damage can occur slowly over the years. If left unchecked this leads to costly damage. This homeowner had noticed that a damp odor was becoming worse throughout their living spaces, and to address the root of the issue they knew they would need to have someone dive under their home. This is how the ended up online and than scheduling with John's Waterproofing for a free inspection.
The crawl space was in disrepair with falling fiberglass insulation, debris over the 6 Mil vapor barrier, and some damp spots where water had been trapped until it could evaporate. To clean the space up and prevent more issues from occurring we would install a full encapsulation. This includes a full drain system, sump pump, proper insulation, a 20 Mil thick vapor barrier, and a dehumidifier.
Damp Sections Still Evident
Darker spots are still found on the old 6 Mil vapor barrier where water had been pooling and are now evaporating from
Failing Fiberglass Insulation Under the Home
Once moisture absorbs into the fiberglass it will droop and fall from the subfloor
Dust Collecting on the Drooping Fiberglass
The fiberglass was drooping and collecting dust from sitting stagnant for so long

With the system in place the crawl space is all cleaned up, and ready to remain dry all year round.
