Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Rodents Taking Over Crawl Space- Florence, OR

This homeowner was having issues with rodents taking over their crawl space. The were using the fiberglass insulation for nesting and the home was beginning to have smells, so the homeowner wanted to find a solution that would fix their issues. They reached out to John's Waterproofing and we sent out one of system design specialist to perform a free estimate and inspection. After our design specialist finished, he met with the homeowner to discuss the inspection and offer solutions. The homeowner decided that an encapsulation was the way to go. An encapsulation will completely seal, prevent and protect the crawl space from rodents, water, and other issues from entering the space and damaging the home. To begin this project we start by removing the old vapor barrier and fiberglass insulation. Next, since this home didn't have much water, we install our SmartDrain system in the lowest spot in the crawl space. This alerts the homeowner of a possible plumbing leak with an audible alarm and drains the water away into a dry well under the CleanSpace until it can be addressed by the homeowner. We then install our TerraBlock system which goes directly on the dirt floor of the crawl space creating an insulated barrier between the home and the earth. On top of the TerraBlock, we install our CleanSpace system. This goes along the foundation wall and up to the rim joist and it is sealed with our waterproof tape against the footing of the wooden posts. We then make sure that the vents in this crawl space are sealed shut. This prevents outside air from entering and will also ensure no rodents have easy access to this space. We want to control the environment, so we install our SaniDry Sedona. This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air, all while promoting healthy air throughout the entire home. Lastly, we finish up this project with our spray foam insulation, which is spayed along the foundation walls, ensuring an airtight seal. This crawl space is now protected and rodents will not be attracted to this space any longer since it is dry, clean and healthy.
