Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Transformation- Vancouver, WA
This homeowner found some standing water in their crawl space and decided to call John's Waterproofing to find a proper, long lasting solution. We sent one of our system design specialist out to perform a free estimate and inspection. After assessing the problem, our design specialist met with the home owner and offered some options. They agreed an encapsulation was the best route to take for this crawl space. To start this project, we remove all the debris from the space, along with the damaged vapor barrier and fiberglass insulation. Next, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space to lay down a perforated pipe into a silt sock. This will secure a safe passage for water to drain to the SuperSump Plus pump at the lowest point in the space. We also install a discharge line outside, which will drain the water away from the homes foundation. We then install our TerraBlock system, this goes directly on the dirt floor of the crawl space and creates an insulated barrier between the home and the earth. On top of the TerraBlock, we install our heavy, 20 mil thick CleanSpace system. This goes all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists and between the wooden posts and the footings, then we seal it all with our waterproof tape. We also make sure to seal all the vents in this space to make sure no outside air enters the space. To help control the environment, we installed our SaniDry Sedona. This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air all while promoting healthy air throughout the entire home. Lastly, to finish this space, we install our foam insulation. We spray this along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists to ensure a full airtight seal in this space. With this transformed crawl space, these homeowners can be sure their space is protected and even use it as extra storage space!
Before Waterproofing
This is what the crawl space of this home looked like before. Dark, full of debris, poor air quality and standing water.
Perimeter Drain
This is our 3 inch perforated pipe, laid down into the trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space and placed into a silt sock to help with the sediment. It will drain the water to the SuperSump Plus pump that was installed at the lowest point in the crawl space.
After Waterproofing
With our CleanSpace system installed, we can see and feel the difference in the space. With the white finish, the homeowner will be able to see there is no dirt, mold, or critters.
Spray Foam Insulation
Our foam insulation is sprayed along the foundation walls of the crawl space, up to the rim joists, this ensures an airtight seal in the space.
