Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Nasty and Wet to Dry and Healthy: Crawl Space Encapsulation -Eugene, OR
This homeowner reached out to John's Waterproofing after finding standing water in their crawl space. This was causing damp musty smells in their home and they wanted a permanent solution to this problem. We sent out one of our system design specialist to perform a free estimate and inspection for this crawl space. When the design specialist was done with the inspection, he met with the homeowner to go over the best options for this project. Encapsulation was the way to go. To begin, we remove all the debris from the space, including the old fiberglass insulation and damaged vapor barrier. Next, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space to then lay down a perforated pipe into a silt sock. This will help secure a safe passage for the water to drain to the SuperSump Plus pump at the lowest point of the space. We then install our TerraBlock system. This goes directly on the dirt floor of the crawl space to create an insulated barrier between the home and the earth. On top of the TerraBlock, we install our CleanSpace system which goes all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists, and seals at the footing of the wooden posts. A discharge line is then placed outside and away from the foundation to drain the water away. This is connected to our LawnScape Outlet which is a grated drain that allows water to pass through but will keep debris out of the discharge line. All the vents in this space are also sealed shut to prevent outside air from entering. Our Everlast Door is next, this will allow exterior access into the crawl space and the door itself will adapt to any weather conditions. To control the environment, we installed our SaniDry Sedona. This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air, and will keep the space at a healthy relative humidity all while promoting healthy air throughout the home. Lastly, we installed our foam insulation. This is sprayed all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists filling every crack and void increasing effectiveness and performance, ensuring a complete air tight seal in the space, protecting the home for years to come.
