Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Transforming a Wet, Musty Crawl Space- Portland, OR

These homeowners were struggling to find a solution to get rid of the musty smell taking over their home, so they called John's Waterproofing to get the job done. We sent out one of our system design specialists to perform a free inspection and estimate. After meeting with the homeowner to discuss options, they decided that an encapsulation would be the most beneficial option for this home. We begin this project by removing all the debris from the space. Next, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space, and lay down a perforated pipe into a silt sock to secure a safe passage for water to drain to the SuperSump which is placed at the lowest point in the space. This is connected to a discharge line we install outside to drain the water away from the foundation. Then, we install our TerraBlock system directly on the dirt floor of the crawl space creating a barrier between the home and the earth. On top of the TerraBlock, we install our CleanSpace system. This goes all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists and is sealed with our waterproof tape at the footing of the wooden posts and all the vents are sealed shut. To control the environment, we install our SaniDry Sedona. This effective dehumidifier will help eliminate damp musty odors in the home as well as keep the space at a healthy relative humidity.  Lastly we install our foam insulation. This is sprayed all along the foundation walls, every crack and void is filled to increase effectiveness and performance, ensuring a complete air tight seal. These homeowners can be sure their home is protected for years to come.
