Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Repairing a Neglected Crawl Space- Newberg, OR
Without a proper solution in place, crawl spaces can have water intrusion, insulation damage and air quality problems and these issues can go undetected for years. These homeowners were starting to smell a musty odor, and some rooms in their home were very humid especially during the warmer months, so they wanted to find a solution that would permanently fix this issue. So they called us up and scheduled their free inspection. Our system design specialist met with them, and he went over the game plan to fix these issues and they began the project. We started by removing all the debris along with the old vapor barrier and damaged fiberglass insulation. Next, we dug a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space and laid down a 3 inch perforated pipe into a silt sock. This creates a secure passage for water to drain to the TripleSafe sump pump installed at the lowest point which is connected to a discharge line outside, and will drain all the water away from the homes foundation. Then, we installed our TerraBlock system on the dirt floor creating an insulated barrier to separate the home from the earth. This will help in blocking any moisture from making its way up through the crawl space floor. We then installed our CleanSpace system directly on the TerraBlock, on all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists and sealed at the footing of the wooden posts with our waterproof tape. We made sure all the vents were covered to prevent outside air from entering. The homeowner wanted to get outdoor access into the crawl space so we installed our EverLast door. This will maintain its integrity through all weather conditions, lasting the life of the home. To keep the environment controlled, we installed our SaniDry Sedona. This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air. It will also keep the home at a healthy relative humidity, improving over all air quality. We finished this project by installing our foam insulation. We sprayed this all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists, ensuring we filled every crack and void. With its airtight seal, it will keep the home well insulated, protected from water and pest intrusion and will also help in lowering energy costs. With this full encapsulation, these homeowners can rest assured their crawl space is now dry, clean and healthy for years to come.
