Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Transforming a Huge Crawl Space in Silverton, OR
This crawl space was creating a musty smell in this home. Growing concerned that there may be a bigger underlying issue, these homeowners reached out to John's and scheduled their free visit. We went out and thoroughly inspected the crawl space and then worked with the homeowners to go over the best options and create a plan that will permanently solve these issues. After signing the estimate they scheduled their project and we started. We began by removing all of the debris, fiberglass insulation and old vapor barrier. Next, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space and install a 3 inch perforated pipe that will create a secure passage for the water to drain to the lowest point. At this low point, we then install our SuperSump plus. This system will collect all of the water that enters and will pump it outside and away from the homes foundation through a discharge line. We make sure to cover all of the vents to prevent outside air from entering. Then, we install our TerraBlock directly onto the dirt floor of the crawl space to create an insulated barrier between the home and the earth. On top of the TerraBlock, we install our CleanSpace system. This is also anchored into the foundation walls up to the rim joists and installed between the footing and the wooden posts and is then sealed with our waterproof tape. To keep the environment controlled, we install our SaniDry XP. This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp and musty odors by drying and filtering the air. To create exterior access into the crawl space, we install our EverLast Door. This door will adapt in any weather condition, making it last. To finish, we install our foam insulation directly onto the foundation walls, up to the rim joists. As opposed to traditional fiberglass insulation, spray foam expands, filling every crack and void to guarantee an airtight seal. Now that this home is fully encapsulated, these homeowners can be sure their home will be free of musty and damp odors and that their home will be protected for years to come.
Damaged Vapor Barrier
This crawl space's vapor barrier was full of dirt and debris and was no longer covering the floor, therefore it was not doing it's job and let moisture and musty smells enter the home.
Fallen Fiberglass Insulation
Over the years, the amount of moisture in the crawl space caused the fiberglass insulation to become damp and heavy, making it fall.
SuperSump Plus
This system will collect all of the water that enters and will pump it outside and away from the homes foundation through a discharge line.
Spray Foam Insulation
Our foam insulation will guarantee a complete airtight seal ensuring no air leaks enter this space.
