Mold Problems Case Studies: Dehumidifier Benefits
Challenge
The crawl space was completely covered in mold and the humidity levels were extremely high. Which was making the homeowner sick due to unhealthy air quality? And putting the integrity of the posts at risk for decomposing from excessive water damage. So we had to get the humidity levels under check and ensure that there would not be any future mold growth.
Solution
Our first task was to fully encapsulate the space to prevent water from coming up through the soil. In order to do that, they had to completely tear everything out; vapor barrier, insulation, wet soil, and the extra debris. Making sure to level out the ground, to give the CleanSpace a flat and tight finish. To complete the seal they used SprayFoam insulation to fill the cracks and the rest of the wooden wall. Making sure no water or air can go in or out of the crawl space.
Knowing that the encapsulation was completed they needed to do something about the humidity levels, as they had been cut in half but not under complete control yet. So they brought in the SaniDry CX dehumidifier, which is a self-draining system that eliminates the chore of emptying the catch tray. It also is an energy efficient system, so it boots the air quality and saves you money on your electricity bill.
The customer had the SaniDry CX serviced annually for the 4 years of having it, and it still runs like new. And has eliminated the allergens of the crawl space. Leaving the family healthy and happy with the results.
