Sump Pumps Photo Album: How to Install WaterGuard - Portland, OR
Installing a proper drainage system is a crucial step in basement waterproofing. This is what helps to collect any water intrusion and offers a safe passageway to flow through and exit the space. When we install a drainage system in a basement, WaterGuard is the first step. WaterGuard is a drainage pipe that sits at the footing and collects water that seeps in through the walls as well as rising groundwater. It gets lined with gravel so that the water can easily filter through. Once it is installed, we cover the system up with concrete to offer a discreet look for homeowners. In order to install the WaterGuard, we first have to jackhammer a trench along the interior perimeter of the space. It creates broken up rocks that we then dig out and put into buckets. This is a tedious process that takes a long time in order to get the perfect trench to fit the drainage pipe. Once it is hollow and cleared out, then the WaterGuard pipe is installed and connects to the TripleSafe sump pump to push that water away from the homes foundation. Overall, the drainage system in the basement is extremely important in order to keep the basement dry and healthy.
Water Damaged Basement.
This basement had experienced significant water intrusion. This is noticeable from the discoloration and cracks in the foundation where water pushed through.
Before Digging the Trench.
In order to install the WaterGuard, there needs to be a trench for it to sit in and at the footing of the basement to successfully collect water.
Jackhammering the Trench.
Our team then uses a jackhammer along the interior perimeter of the basement so that a trench can be dug to place the drainage pipe into.
After Creating the Trench.
The jackhammer causes the concrete to break apart so that it can be easily dug out to create a hollow space.
Digging the Trench.
All those broken up pieces have to be dug out and placed into buckets so there is space for the WaterGuard.
Ready for the WaterGuard.
Once this process is completed, this basement is now ready for the WaterGuard to be installed and prevent any more water issues.
