Sump Pumps Photo Album: Entire Crawl Space was Flooded - Scappoose, OR
Living in an area that experiences heavy rainy seasons, this homeowner thought it was time to make sure their crawl space was in good condition. They saw some streams of water on the side of their home going towards the vents in their crawl space and began to worry. They discovered that their entire crawl space was flooded with water with no where to exit. They reached out to John's Waterproofing hoping for a quick solution. We informed them that the best option would be to encapsulate the crawl space and seal the vents, but they opted to do a Pipe Pump Plastic system until they were fully ready to commit. The Pipe Pump Plastic system involves installing a proper drainage system so that all the standing water in their crawl space would have a safe passageway to be sent out. First, we dug a trench along the interior perimeter of the crawl space. This is for a perforated pipe to be installed into to collect water as it tries to seep through. It guides the water to a SuperSump Plus sump pump. Because the water issues were so extreme, this home needed two sump pump systems installed in order to keep all the water out. The SuperSump Plus is capable of taking all the collected water from the pipe and can securely push it out and away from the homes foundation. It is equipped with a heavy duty Zoeller pump so it can control mass amounts of water at a time. In order to add some protection to the previously flooded space, DrainMatt was installed. This is a dimpled liner that helps waterproof the crawl space floor in order to manage moisture. On top of the DrainMatt, a 6 mil vapor barrier was installed. This goes along the base, up the foundation walls, and between the footing and wooden posts. Each seam is overlapped to further prevent water from getting into the space and causing more damage. Once this entire system is installed, the excess water in the crawl space can be controlled and remain dry for a healthier home.
No Vapor Barrier and Lots of Water.
Because this crawl space had no protection against water intrusion, it was constantly flooding during the heavy rainy seasons.
Standing Water Causes Major Damage.
Once the water starts flooding with no where to safely exit, it eventually evaporates into the air and gets absorbed by the homes materials. This can lead to mold growth, wood rot, and structural damage if not resolved.
New Vapor Barrier Helping Keep it Dry.
With a new 6 mil vapor barrier installed, there is some protection against water damage. This is installed along the base, up the foundation walls, and between the footing and wooden posts to isolate and protect against water damage.
SuperSump Plus to the Rescue.
The SuperSump Plus sump pump is capable of controlling mass volumes of water and safely pump it out of the crawl space and away from the homes foundation.
Newly Dry and Healthy Crawl Space.
Now that the water in the crawl space is controlled, this homeowner can enjoy all the benefits of a dry and healthy home.
