Upgrading to CleanSpace - Sandy, OR

This concrete slab crawl space was experiencing some water intrusion. The homeowner had previously installed a 6 mil vapor barrier to help keep water from being able to seep through, but it wasn't capable of keeping the water out during the rainy seasons. Tired of dealing with this, the homeowner decided to call John's Waterproofing and see if there were other options to replace their old vapor barrier. We recommended that the crawl space gets a full encapsulation to seal the home off from the earth and control the water intrusion. With every encapsulation, a CleanSpace vapor is installed along the base, up the foundation walls, and between the footing and wooden posts to isolate and protect against water damage. The CleanSpace vapor barrier is a 20 mil thick compared to the traditional 6 mil black liner. This makes it more durable against rips and tears, especially being backed by a 25 year warranty. The reason CleanSpace is so high quality is because it is made with woven fibers that help prevent water from being able to seep through and sealed with 4 inch thick waterproof tape. Overall the full encapsulation process is designed to keep the crawl space dry and healthy, with added benefits from the CleanSpace vapor barrier.

Musty Smells in the Crawl Space- Sandy OR

This homeowner was experiencing musty smells throughout their home and they wanted a solution. They reached out to John's Waterproofing and we sent out one of our system design specialist to perform a free estimate and inspection. After a thorough inspection, our design specialist met with the homeowner and they discussed effective solutions to get rid of the smells. To begin this project, we remove all of the debris and fiberglass insulation, as well as the damaged old vapor barrier. Since this crawl space did not have as much water, we installed our SmartDrain system which is placed in the lowest point. This system will alert the homeowner should a plumbing leak occur. We then install our TerraBlock system directly on the dirt floor of the crawl space. This will create an insulated barrier between the home and the earth and will not allow moisture to make its way up through the crawl space floor. On top of the TerraBlock, we installed our CleanSpace system along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists and it is sealed with our waterproof tape against the footing of the wooden posts. The CleanSpace system is manufactured with an antimicrobial additive called UltraFresh molded right into the material, which will help with keeping out any smells. Next, we make sure that all the vents are sealed shut to prevent outside air from entering. We also installed our EverLast Door, which will allow exterior access to the crawl space, and adapts to all weather conditions. Then, to control the environment, we installed our SaniDry Sedona, which is our effective dehumidifier that will eliminate damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air. When the air in the crawl space is clean and controlled, the air in the home is too. Lastly, to finish this space, we spray our foam insulation, this will ensure an air tight seal. With their new, clean, dry, and healthy crawl space, this homeowner can be sure that their home will be free of any damp and musty smells.
