The homeowners just had their vapor barrier replaced by another company, however, their old insulation was never addressed. They had hoped changing the barrier would eliminate the moldy smell under their home, however, it didn't. The mold was festering under the old insulation. To help we removed all of the old insulation, brought in a mold remediation company, and then fully encased the crawlspace.
This homes crawl space hadn't been looked at in many years. After hearing squeaks coming from the crawl space in the evening the owners decided to glance under the home. This is how they discovered that their crawl space was a mess. The fiberglass was falling down, and caked on mud and standing water were seen across the old 6 Mil vapor barrier. To take control over this space and have it be healthy, they contacted John's Waterproofing. We sent out a design specialist who did a full inspection and then discussed a solution with encapsulation. This system brings the crawl space into the homes envelope, making it a controlled and healthy environment.
This homes crawl space was mess when the owners glanced under their home. They discovered that the old fiberglass was drooping and falling from the subfloor. The old vapor barrier was a mess of tears and had shifted out of a place a good amount. It was musty and damp and the owners of the home wanted to know what they could do to help. To get to the root of the issue and protect their home, they decided to contact John's Waterproofing about encapsulation. They were excited to keep their crawl space dry, stable, and healthy all year round. We installed a full drain system, sump pump, TerraBlock, CleanSpace, SaniDry dehumidifier, and Spray Foam insulation.
These homeowners were looking to upgrade their crawl space to create additional storage in their home and gave us a call for a free visit. We went out and thoroughly inspected the crawl space and then met up with the homeowners to work on a plan that will help create a stable and healthy environment for them to have peace of mind about their crawl space. The homeowners then signed the estimate and we began this project. We start by removing all of the debris, fiberglass insulation and old vapor barrier. Since there was not much water, we install our SmartDrain system that will alert the homeowner of a possible plumbing leak with an audible alarm and will drain the leak into a drywell underneath the CleanSpace. We then cover all of the vents and seal them shut to prevent outside air from entering. Next, we install our TerraBlock system directly onto the dirt floor of the crawl space and this creates an insulated barrier between the home and the earth that will block any moisture from making its way up. We anchor our 20 mil thick CleanSpace system into the foundation walls, between the footing and wooden posts and over top of the TerraBlock system and this is sealed with our heavy duty CleanSpace tape. To keep the environment controlled we install our SaniDry Sedona. This is our powerful and highly effective dehumidifier that will eliminate damp and musty odors while drying and filtering the air. It will also keep the home at a healthy relative humidity, improving overall indoor air quality. Lastly we install our spray foam insulation directly onto the foundation walls up to the rim joists, filling every crack and void, ensuring a complete airtight seal and no air leaks. With this full encapsulation, these homeowners can be sure their home is protected for years to come and they can now use this clean, healthy and stable crawl space as extra storage.
This homes crawl space was not in the best condition. The old fiberglass was drooping and smelled bad. The below vapor barrier had debris over it and had a few puddles littered across it, adding to the damp odor of the space. To get the area into good shape and protect it against water damage, the owners decided they would like a full encapsulation. We removed the old vapor barrier, debris, and fiberglass. We then installed a drain system and sump pump to address the groundwater issue. TerraBlock insulation was laid over the dirt floor and CleanSpace installed over the top of this. We than installed a SaniDry dehumidifier which will keep the spaces relative humidity at a healthy range. To finish we applied spray foam insulation along the foundation walls. Now this crawl space will remain dry and healthy all year round.
