Crawl Space Encapsulation in Bellingham, OR

Water kept entering this home's crawl space even after these homeowners had tried to fix the problem themselves and even hired other companies. They realized that all of their solutions were only temporary, so they finally decided it was time to find a permanent solution. They called us up and scheduled their free visit. We went out and performed a thorough inspection, then met with the homeowners to discuss the findings and go over the best options to create a dry, healthy and stable crawl space. After answering some more questions, the homeowners signed the estimate and we started the project. First, we remove all of the debris, old vapor barrier and fiberglass insulation. Next, we dug a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space and in it we install a 3 inch perforated pipe into a silt sock. This will secure a safe passage for water to drain to the lowest point. Then, at this low point we install our SuperSump Plus system that will collect all of the water that enters and pump it outside of the home, away from the foundation through a discharge line. We make sure all of the vents get covered and sealed to prevent outside air from entering. We install TerraBlock onto the dirt floor of the crawl space which separates the home from the earth with an insulated barrier. On top of the TerraBlock, we install our CleanSpace system, and it is also anchored into the foundation walls, up to the rim joists. This is our 20 mil-thick liner that will not only protect the crawl space but will also brighten up the space with its clean, bright white finish. Lastly to finish up this project, we install our foam insulation directly onto the foundation walls, up to the rim joists. This is sprayed and expands, filling every crack and void to ensure a complete airtight seal. Now that the crawl space is fully encapsulated, the risk of water damage has been effectively eliminated.

Nasty Crawl Space Transformation - Bellingham, WA

Nasty, neglected crawl spaces can quickly become detrimental to the structural components that support the weight of your home, as water intrusion into the space can damage foundations as well as wooden posts, piers, beams, etc. Additionally, wet crawl spaces can pose enormous health risks to your loved ones. This is because 40% of the air inside of your home comes from your crawl space, meaning whatever is beneath your feet, is also inside of your home. Homeowners seeking to protect the long term investment they have into their homes, as well as the health of their families, need look no further than their local waterproofing experts here at John's! Backed by over 50 years in the waterproofing industry, our crews install waterproofing systems with the highest level of knowledge, experience, and integrity every time, never stopping short of delivering WOW service to all customers. In the last 10 years, waterproofing experts have created the Gold Standard in crawl space protection - The Full Encapsulation System. This professional waterproofing system waterproofs, and seals crawl spaces entirely, preventing water, rodents and debris from being able to cause damage.

First, our crew installs perforated piping around the full interior perimeter of the space, to collect all groundwater. Once water enters the piping, it is routed to a SuperSump Pump, for immediate expulsion from the home. The piping and the pump ensures that water cannot damage the structural components of your home, and keeps the soil inside of your crawl space dense and strong to support the foundation. Next, 2 layers of floor coverings are installed - the first layer, TerraBlock, insulates the ground, followed by a 20 Mil Vapor Barrier, known as CleanSpace. These 2 layers work together to insulate the space, prevent moisture from seeping in through the ground, and they provide a sturdy, walkable surface. Encapsulated crawl spaces also protect the health of your family, by ensuring a safe relative humidity at all times, through the 24/7 operation of a heavy-duty Dehumidifier. Our Dehumidifiers run continuously, preventing mold growth while cleaning and removing moisture, allergens, and toxins from the air. Rigid plastic vent covers are placed over top of all original crawl space vents, to seal the outside of the space. EverLast Access Doors are also a necessary encapsulation component, as they leave no gaps around the edges when shut - making it impossible for rodents to enter. The final step in an encapsulation is the installation of Spray Foam Insulation onto the foundation walls. Spray Foam is sprayed on by our highly trained experts, with meticulous precision until every crevice and void is filled - creating a 100% air-tight seal inside of your crawl space. All of these professional-grade, expertly installed components work together to protect your home and loved ones. With proper yearly maintenance, encapsulations will last the life of your home, and will never stop offering you peace of mind in knowing that the investment you've made into your home is protected from catastrophic water damage.
