Did you know that protecting your home from water damage is actually quite simple? As a matter of fact, with a phone call to John's Waterproofing the ball gets rolling - from there on, our expert team members will handle all remaining leg-work required to equip the home with effective and professional waterproofing capabilities. First, one of our highly trained Design Specialists visits the home, and thoroughly inspects the crawl space and foundation for evidence of water intrusion and damage. After the inspection is complete, a customized proposal is reviewed with the homeowner - detailing all findings, and recommended solutions. Once our team receives approval from the homeowner on this solution, the work is scheduled, and preparations are made by John's to ensure seamless, professional, and timely waterproofing of the home. When crawl spaces are sopping wet like this one, immediate waterproofing is recommended in order to prevent significant structural damage to the home, as well as detrimental health effects to the family. Crawl spaces that are persistently wet, greatly threaten the stability of the home, by eroding away at the density of the soil supporting the homes extreme weight, while also causing shifting and cracking in the foundation walls, and subfloor framing. Additionally, wet, festering crawl spaces create a terribly unhealthy air quality beneath the home, and throughout. This air then wafts up into the home, and is breathed in by the family everyday. As 40% of interior air comes from the crawl space, it is absolutely imperative to keep the space clean and dry. For this home, we needed to stop stagnant water from forming and festering within the crawl space, to do so, while being budget friendly, we installed a Pipe, Pump, and Plastic system.
To begin, our crew cleans out the entire crawl space, removing all debris. Following this, a shallow, narrow trench is dug around the full interior perimeter of the space, to hold our 3" Perforated Piping, which will collect all future water intrusion, and route it to a SuperSump Pump, for expulsion far away from the home. With the pipe and pump in place, a fresh, 6 Mil Vapor Barrier is placed, covering the entire dirt floor, as well as the foundation walls - preventing water from seeping in. And that's it - this family no longer has to stress about how their wet crawl space may be effecting their home and family. Our crews have been waterproofing crawl spaces in the PNW for over 50 years, giving us the ability to install effective waterproofing solutions.
Moisture can cause a lot of damage to the home, especially if left unattended for years, This home would need to be treated for mold, and than we were able to come in to waterproof so we could keep the space dry and healthy. To care for the home, we installed a full encapsulation. This system involves a full interior perimeter drain system, with a TripleSafe sump pump. We also insulate the space using methods that are made to last and fit into the crawl space. This involves TerraBlock along the dirt floor, paired with Spray Foam insulation along the foundation walls and into the rim joists. We also seal the vents shut so we can control the space. CleanSpace is wrapped throughout the crawl space, allowing us to than control the environment under the home with a SaniDry dehumidifier. With control over the moisture content, we can make it so mold and mildew will not find a way back under the home, and it can truly remain dry and healthy over the years.
