Keeping the crawl space healthy is an important part in keeping your home healthy. Over time, water tries to seep through and can cause mold growth and structural damage to the home. In order to help prevent that, John's Waterproofing recommends getting your crawl space encapsulated. Encapsulation is the process of sealing the home off from the earth and regulating the environment so it's less exposed to mold, wood rot, and high humidity. The process of encapsulating involves installing a drainage system using a perforated pipe and a TripleSafe sump pump to control the passage of water. Then, TerraBlock insulation foam and a CleanSpace vapor barrier get installed to seal the space off and prevent anything from getting in that shouldn't. A SaniDry dehumidifier helps pull moisture out and promote cleaner air quality. Lastly, Spray Foam air seals and insulates the space. Once the process is completely installed the home can be protected against moisture damage and remain dry year round.

This homeowner called us up when they found heavy water stains in their crawlspace and the dirt and fiberglass was damp. They had a simple white vapor barrier laid throughout, but the moisture in the area was leaving the space still damp. To address the homes water issues, they would need a full encapsulation.
