This homes crawl space was a mess. The owners of the home knew that their homes heating and cooling costs had been rising, and they needed to get the space controlled. One way they could address this, was by caring for their crawl space. This area had been overlooked year after year, and it was suffering. The old vapor barrier was drooping and not providing insulation value to the home. To control the space and lower the energy bill we installed an encapsulation. This system includes drainage, a sump pump, proper insulation, a 20 Mil thick woven vapor barrier, and dehumidifier.
This customer had vertical cracks in there basement walls causing them to weaken and start to bow inwards. They had us come out and install Power Braces and Thermaldry Wall to reinforce the walls and help control moisture.
This home was experiencing some pooling in the crawlspace and it had really damaged the wooden posts. To ensure that the homes integrity would last, our crew went out and safely removed the rotting posts and installed SmartJacks to support the home before we waterproofed the space.
This crawlspace kept having to be repaired. The homeowners were tired of needing to reattach the old fiberglass and replace the 6 Mil vapor barrier. They were looking for a long term solution and decided it was time to encapsulate the crawlspace! They are amazing with how clean and bright the area is and look forward to not having to stress over this area again.
These homeowners took one look into their crawl space and knew they needed to transform it but didn't know where to begin, so they called up John's to schedule a free inspection. Their main concern was the air quality in their home. After a thorough inspection, our system design specialist met with them to discuss how to create healthy and clean air within their home. When they heard the game plan, they moved forward with the project. We start by removing all of the debris, which includes the damaged vapor barrier and old fiberglass insulation. This crawl space did not have much water intrusion, so we install our SmartDrain system that will alert the homeowner of a possible plumbing leak with an audible alarm and will drain the water away into a drywell underneath the crawl space until the homeowner can address it. Next, we install our TerraBlock system on the dirt floor, creating an insulated barrier to separate the home from the earth. Then, we install our CleanSpace system which is a heavy 20 mil-thick-liner on top of the TerraBlock, along the foundation walls, and up to the rim joists and it is sealed at the footing of the wooden posts with our waterproof tape. We also make sure to seal off all the vents to keep outside air from entering. We then install our EverLast door to create a weatherproof exterior access into the crawl space.. To control the environment, we install our SaniDry Sedona- this will keep the home at a healthy relative humidity, and will eliminate damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air. This dehumidifier will help improve the air quality in the entire home. To finish this project, we install our foam insulation. It is sprayed all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists, filling every crack and void to ensure an airtight seal. With this finished encapsulation, this crawl space is now healthy, dry and clean and looks brand new.
