Water Taking Over Crawl Space - Wheeler, OR
Challenge
When water enters a crawl space, it can cause an array of issues for the entire home. Air travels up from the crawlspace and into the home, so when the space is wet and dark, it becomes an inviting environment for mold, mildew and rodents as well. This affects the air quality throughout the entire home. Water in the crawl space can cause structural damage leading to costly repairs. This homeowner was seeing standing water in their crawl space and wanted to get this fixed sooner than later to avoid further damage. They needed a company they could trust, so they reached out to John's Waterproofing.
Solution
Our system design specialist went out to the home and performed a free estimate and inspection for the home owner. After the inspection, the design specialist met with the homeowner and they went over the findings and decided the best solution was an encapsulation for this crawl space. We start this project by removing all the debris, this includes the old vapor barrier and damaged fiberglass insulation. Next, our team digs a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space and lays down a 3 inch perforated pipe in a silt sock. This secures a safe passage for the water to drain to the TripleSafe sump pump at the lowest point. A discharge line is placed outside to ensure the water is directed away from the foundation. Next, our SilverGlo wall insulation is installed. It is fastened to the crawl space walls with drilled in mechanical fasteners, so it will never come off the walls. Our team then installs our TerraBlock system directly on the crawlspace floor, this creates an insulated barrier, separating the earth and the home. Our CleanSpace is installed on top of the TerraBlock and up the foundation walls. All the vents in this crawl space are completely sealed to ensure outside air stays out. Our team also installed our EverLast Door for this project, this allows exterior access into the crawl space. To finish this crawl space, our team installs our SaniDry XP, which is our effective dehumidifier that helps control the environment by eliminating damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air. This crawl space is can now give the homeowner peace of mind.
