The Street of Dreams: Crawl Space Waterproofing - Oregon City, OR
Challenge
As the leading experts in professional home waterproofing throughout the PNW for over 50 years, John's was reached out to, to waterproofing the crawl space of a new-construction home on The Street of Dreams, in Oregon City. We were honored to receive the opportunity of showcasing our craft. Efficiently, we assembled our crew, and began the process of crawl space waterproofing - starting with a thorough inspection. This crawl space was along the hillside of the home and had ample ceiling height, and housed some of the homes mechanical features. To allow this space to be used as a large storage room, an encapsulation was requested. If left as was, the space was exposed to moisture, easy to attract rodents, and prone to mold and mildew, effectively making this space unusable. Crawl space waterproofing is of paramount importance, to protect not only the stability of the home, but also the health of all who live in it, and we were happy to begin the work!
Solution
To waterproof this crawl space, we began by cleaning out all debris beneath the home. Next, our crews laid TerraBlock Padding down, to cover the entire dirt floor of the space, for effective insulation. On top of the TerraBlock, as well as up onto the foundation walls, we placed our waterproof, 20 Mil CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, to prevent ground water from seeping in. CleanSpace is warrantied against rips and tears for 25 years, and is interlaced with Carbon Fibers, making it incredibly durable and resistant to rodent damage. CleanSpace transforms dark, dreary spaces, into clean, welcoming areas that are conducive to the long-term stability of the home, and the health of the family. For advanced-level waterproofing protection, we also installed a SmartDrain at the lowest point in the crawl space, which will audibly alert the family if water is ever detected from a plumbing leak. Thanks to Our SmartDrains immediate water-detection alarm, standing water will never unknowingly accumulate beneath the home - potentially saving families thousands of dollars on structural damage from water intrusion. This waterproofing component gives homeowners precious time in mediating water intrusion into their crawl space, before catastrophic damage can occur, while also offering peace of mind in knowing they will be alerted to water before it's too late. Lastly, our crew installed SilverGlo insulation paneling directly onto the concrete foundation walls. SilverGlo is double-sided and waterproof, preventing water from entering the space, while also reflecting heat back into home. This highly effective insulation reduces heat loss, resulting in a more comfortable home, while offering savings on energy costs. This home, is now permanently protected from the devastating effects of water damage, thanks to John's professional waterproofing services. Backed by over 50 years of experience, and thousands of satisfied customers throughout Oregon and Washington, John's is the company to call on for all things home waterproofing. With simple, once yearly maintenance, our crews will keep this homes waterproofing components in tip-top shape, so that the family can thrive inside of a dry, clean, and stable home for many years to come.
