Loose Wooden Posts Found During Service- Woodburn, OR
Challenge
After performing the annual service on the sump system in this encapsulation we installed a few years back, our service technician inspected this crawl space and found about 15 loose wooden posts, just hanging from the joists above. Loose posts like these cause sagging and uneven floors, sticking doors and windows and other problems that could lead to serious long term damage. Over the years, these footings began to settle and sink causing these problems. Our technician went and talked with the homeowner and offered our best options to properly support their crawl space, making their home feel stable again.
Solution
Our SmartJacks are the best option to permanently stabilize and support this home. These are our high-capacity, adjustable supplemental steel posts designed to stop settling and raise the floor back into the stable and level position. We start by removing each of the wooden posts that were offering no support and replacing them with our SmartJacks. On the existing footings, we install the base and on the joists above, our top bracket and finally install the steel piers between the two. These posts are adjustable throughout the year, allowing the SmartJack to support the home over the years. Now that these are in place, this homeowner can be sure their floors will no longer be sagging or bouncy and they can have peace of mind that its a stable home again.
