Transforming a Rodent Infested Crawl Space in Eugene, OR

This crawl space was dark, filthy and humid, which created the perfect environment for rodent activity. They completely took over this crawl space and these homeowners wanted to create a healthy and stable space that benefits them and will keep problems away. They reached out to John's and we went out for a free visit. While thoroughly inspecting this crawl space, we found rodent droppings, fiberglass insulation used as nesting and a damaged chewed vapor barrier. There was also a high level of humidity that had caused mold in some spots. After hearing this, the homeowners were ready to transform their crawl space so they moved forward with the estimate and we began.

We start by removing the fiberglass and old vapor barrier, than spot treating the mold spots with our Mold X-2. This effectively removes mold stains in 20 seconds. Since there was not much water, we install our SmartDrain system that will alert the homeowner of a possible plumbing leak with an audible alarm, draining the water into a drywell underneath the CleanSpace until they can fix it. Next, we install our TerraBlock system directly onto the dirt floor of the crawl space creating an insulated barrier between the home and the earth. Over this is our CleanSpace system, going in between the footing and the wooden posts. This 20 mil thick liner is also anchored into the foundation walls and up to the rim joists. It all then gets sealed with our heavy duty waterproof tape. We want to keep the environment controlled so we then install our SaniDry Sedona. This effective dehumidifier will eliminate damp and musty odors by drying and filtering the air all while keeping the home at a healthy relative humidity. Lastly we finished this project by installing our foam insulation. This is sprayed along the foundation walls up to the rim joists filling every crack in void providing a complete airtight seal that will not allow any outside air, rodents, or water to enter. With this finished and protected crawl space these homeowners no longer have to worry about rodents taking over their home and living beneath their feet.

Wet crawlspace cleanup in Eugene Oregon

This homeowner called to inform us that she peeked into her crawlspace access and she saw standing water and there was a "funky" smell. Jacob was quick to come out and provide a free inspection and confirmed for her that there was standing water throughout her crawlspace. He informed her that the smell as caused by bacteria in the standing water and the mold beginning to grow under the home.

Knowing that she had to get this taken care of quickly before it got worse, Nancy immediately scheduled to have Lupe and his team come out and handle the problem. The team dried out space, removed the mold, and installed a perimeter drain and sump pump to ensure she would not struggle with water issues again. We also placed a dehumidifier after we put up our patented CleanSpace crawlspace liner. We then finished the space with spray foam insulation to provide better heating and cooling year-round.
