Repairing the Foundation to Keep Water Out - Forest Grove, OR
Challenge
Back in 2019 the owner of this property was experiencing significant water intrusion. The walls had water seeping through, as well as from the multitude of cracks in the foundation floor. Unable to control the issue, they decided to reach out to John's Waterproofing about what could be done. We informed the owner that a basement waterproofing system could be installed to control the moisture and offer the water from the walls a passage to be sent out. Unfortunately, due to the mass amount of water that was seeping through the foundation floor from the many cracks and fragile bits of the flooring, there would need to be an upgrade to the foundation floor. Wanting to test the basement waterproofing system first, it was installed. Then, in 2025 the owner reached back out explaining that the cracks were still having water seep up and they were ready to make that change to the foundation.
Solution
The basement waterproofing system was installed a few years back with a full drainage system. A trench gets dug along the interior perimeter of the basement for a WaterGuard pipe to be installed into. This pipe is able to collect water seeping through the walls and offer a safe passage to flow through to the TripleSafe sump pump. This three pump system is able to take all that collected water and securely push it out and away from the homes foundation. To protect the walls, BrightWall is installed. This is a white paneling that helps guide moisture down below to the drainage system to be sent out. Because this property was still having water come up through the cracks in the floor, we now went back out to address the floor. To begin we removed the entire floor. Next we installed a dimpled DrainMatt which helps keep water directed to the drainage system. It gets sealed along the edges with thick waterproof tape to keep it secure. With the DrainMatt installed along the floor, now the basement is ready for a new foundation of concrete to be laid. This concrete gets poured, smoothed down, and hardens to make a new foundation floor. Concrete helps to trap the moisture beneath so that the basement can stay dry and healthy. After this entire process is completed, the owner can enjoy all the benefits of a dry basement that will keep the home and its occupants healthy.
