Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Basement Cracked Wall Repair and Waterproofing - Portland, OR
This homeowner called because he was concerned about cracked walls in his basement, as well as sloped floors in his kitchen. Our Design Specialist arrived and thoroughly inspected his basement and foundation. The basement had sustained damage from water leeching through 2 of the walls for many years. The water damage had caused the 2 walls to shift slightly, causing cracks. There was also a leaking basement window that had contributed to the water damage. Additionally, because of the water intrusion, two of the wooden posts to the floor above the basement were cracked and uneven - the cause of the sloped kitchen floor above. Our Design Specialist explained to the homeowner that he called the right company to come out and inspect, because John's is the leading expert in structural and waterproofing repairs. The homeowner was relieved to hear this. We explained how we proposed to mitigate his basement issues, and he agreed with our recommendations. He signed the Job Proposal, and we got him on our schedule.
When our crew arrived, it was time to get to work. First, we addressed the structural issues - the cracked walls and floor support beams. To fix the cracked walls, we injected each of them with our Epoxy Crack Injection material, to help bond the edges of the crack back together. Next, we bolted several thick strands of Carbon Fiber Stitching over top the length of each crack. Carbon Fiber Stitching is 10 times stronger than steel, and will permanently hold the wall together, preventing any further cracking. Next, we removed the 2 old wooden posts, and replaced each of them with Steel SmartJack Piers. SmartJacks are made of high quality steel, and are "jacked up" until the floor is returned back to level. They remain permanently in place, and are highly adjustable in the future if need be. With the structural repairs completed, we began waterproofing the basement. To do this, we first attached BrightWall Paneling to the 2 affected walls. This Paneling is made of waterproof plastic that will never rot or discolor. It will ensure that all wall water seepage will run behind it, and down into our WaterGuard Perimeter Drainage System below. Additionally, we fixed the leaking window by installing a window WellDuct Drainage System below it, to catch all water leakage, and route it down to the WaterGuard trench below. The WaterGuard collection trench will gather and route all water intrusion into a TripleSafe Sump Pump, to pump it safely away from the home via a discharge and Rain Drain Line. At the end of the Rain Drain Line, we attached a LawnScape Outlet, to evenly distribute the expelled water throughout the lawn. The TripleSafe Sump Pump is the absolute most effective and reliable sump pump on the market. It is 3 pumps inside of 1 large canister, with each pump activated in the event that the pump ahead of it falters, or can't pump quickly enough. The final pump in the canister is battery operated, so that even if a power outage occurs, water intrusion will still not be an issue. To make certain that the TripleSafe always has adequate power, our Electrical Division came out and installed a dedicated electrical outlet to operate the pump. The basement of this home has now been waterproofed, and its structural integrity has been restored. This homeowner is very happy to have a waterproofed basement, and level kitchen floors once again!
