Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Waterproofing Leaking Basement Walls and Floor - Forest Grove, OR
The basement of this home had a long history of water seeping through the walls. This had caused damage to many stored items over the years, and had also prevented the homeowners from being able to truly utilize and enjoy this large space. Deciding they wanted their basement to be useable and more safe, they called on the Waterproofing Experts here at John's to help! When our Design Specialist arrived, he inspected the basement and then suggested installing a waterproofing system. This Basement Waterproofing system would collect all wall water seepage, and carry it to an UltraSump Pump, to expel it safely away from the home via a discharge line. Additionally, he recommended chipping out the old and cracked concrete floor, and pouring a new floor in its place. The new concrete floor would improve the basement aesthetic, be safer to walk on, and would offer better structural support to the home than the old cracked floor could. The homeowners carefully thought it over, and then approved these suggested solutions.
To begin the project, the crew cut out and removed the old concrete floor, and laid the WaterGuard drain system, beside the foundation walls, to catch all wall water seepage. After the water intrusion enters this, it will then be routed to the UltraSump Pump. The Pump will expel all water a safe distance away from the home via a discharge line that was buried by our crew. We placed our CleanSpace wall system along the foundation walls, and a dehumidifier. With the waterproofing of the basement complete, our crew lain drainage matting over the dirt floor and built the form for the new concrete floor to be poured into. They poured the concrete into the form, carefully ensuring that it was poured over the WaterGuard, only exposing inspection ports that are placed for maintenance checks. As the concrete hardened, our crew gave it a beautiful finish! With this basement now waterproofed, the owners of this home will finally be able to utilize the area for storage, without having to worry about the devastating affects of water damage to their belongings. The newly poured concrete floor with professional drainage has left this basement looking like a welcoming and safe place to be. Waterproofing and structural strengthening of basements are both great ways to protect the long term investment of your home!
Old and Cracked Basement Floor
You can see many cracks and fissures in this concrete floor, which had allowed water to seep through.
Water Seeping Through Concrete Floor
Because of water intrusion below this old concrete floor, a lot of water had entered the basement - damaging many items and preventing the homeowners from being able to truly utilize this space.
Cracked and Damaged Concrete Floor
This basement floor was no longer doing its job to offer structural support to the home.
DrainMatt
DrainMatt is a perforated padding that ensures all ground water intrusion is routed to the UltraSump Pump, to be pumped away from the home. This Matting will remain permanently beneath the new concrete floor.
Pouring The New Floor
Our crew hard at work, meticulously ensuring that the concrete is flush with the WaterGuard lining the walls, as well as the UltraSump Pump.
