Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Addressing Basement Water Intrusion in Salem, OR
This homeowner was wanting to create a living area in their basement but knew that water intrusion had been a problem in the past during those heavy rains. Some of the water issues were addressed at the time, but it was only a temporary solution that did not work and created a musty and damp environment. They gave us a call to help them create a dry, healthy and stable environment that would give them peace of mind. We went out and thoroughly inspected the entire basement looking for all of the signs of water intrusion and damage. We then met with the homeowner and worked together in creating a game plan that will solve all of these issues and make sure this basement stays dry for years to come. After talking with the homeowner and going over the estimate, they decided to move forward and we began the project.
First we use a jackhammer to create a trench around the interior perimeter of the basement and in this trench we place clean gravel rock and on top of that we install our WaterGuard system. This drainage system collects water from the walls as well as groundwater and safely drains it to the lowest point of the basement. This system is then discreetly concreted over. Then, at this low point we install our TripleSafe Sump system which gathers all of the water that enters and pumps it outside of the home through a discharge line. Outside of the home we install our LawnScape Outlet which is a grated drain that allows water to pass through but keeps debris out of the discharge line. We also install our TrenchDrain system that is put in place to prevent water from entering while the exterior door is open and connects to the perimeter drainage system. Since the space would be finished we then installed an Egress window along with window well, creating a fire safe exit that is necessary for finished spaces. This window was equipped with drainage, so any water collected in the will will be addressed. Along the walls we then install our ThermalDry Wall system that will not only collect water from the walls and drain it to the WaterGuard system but will also help the space maintain a comfortable temperature. Now that we've installed this perimeter drainage system, these homeowners can confidently finish this basement knowing that there will be no water here.
Efflorescence
Water intrusion in porous material causes efflorescence due to moisture passing through the concrete and evaporation again and again leaving behind a chalky white residue.
