Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Addressing Basement Water Concerns in Portland, OR
These homeowners were in the process of remodeling their homes finished basement and noticed that they were having signs of water intrusion by the foundation walls. Without waterproofing, these problems can become detrimental. Water permeates through porous concrete, fostering an environment that causes mold and mildew, making it a risk for the space to become a livable environment due to compromised air quality. Additionally, structural damage is a concern when it comes to water entering a space like a basement, so these homeowners contacted John's Waterproofing for their free visit. We went out and thoroughly inspected this basement and walked through the best options and game plan with the homeowners to help them create a safe, dry healthy and stable home. We began by using a jackhammer to create a trench around the perimeter of the basement and in it we lay gravel and our WaterGuard system. This is our perimeter drainage system that collects water from the walls as well as ground water and safely channels it to the lowest point of the basement. This system is then concreted over and provides a discreet look. At the low point, we install our SuperSump Plus that will gather all of the water and pump it outside of the home through a discharge line, away from the foundation. For the walls, we installed our ThermalDry Wall radiant barrier. This material will allow the water to safely travel down the walls to the perimeter drainage system. The final piece to this project is a SaniDry dehumidifier, a powerful machine which removes excess moisture from the home, keeping the air at a healthy relative humidity level. Now that this basement is waterproofed, these homeowners can have peace of mind when refinishing the space without the worry of water intrusion.
