Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Damp Basement Walls in Portland, OR
Failing to waterproof a below grade space, like a basement, can cause detrimental effects on not only the property but the health of the homeowner. Without the protection of a waterproofing system, moisture permeates through porous concrete, fostering an environment that could cause mold and mildew, leading to compromised indoor air quality and potential health risks to homeowners. This type of problem causes structural damage and weakens the foundation which will result in a costly repair. These homeowners reached out after noticing that their basement walls were peeling and were damp to the touch. Knowing that this was a serious problem, these homeowners reached out to John's and scheduled their free visit. After inspecting the basement, we met with the homeowners and discussed the best options to create a dry, stable and healthy basement. We begin this project by creating a trench around the interior perimeter of the basement and in that trench we installed our WaterGuard drainage system which will collect any water that may enter and direct it to the lowest point. This system then gets concreted over, providing a seamless look. At this low point we install our TripleSafe sump that will gather all of this water and pump it outside of the home, away from the foundation through a discharge line. Outside connected to the discharge line is our LawnScape Outlet that will allow water to pass through while keeping debris out of the line. Since this basement is about to be finished, along the walls we install our ThermalDry Radiant Barrier that will direct any moisture that may enter down into the perimeter drainage system and will keep the basement at a comfortable temperature. Now with this waterproofing system in place, these homeowners can be sure their home is protected, dry and stable.
