Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Protecting a Basement From Water Intrusion- Portland, OR
This homeowner reached out to John's with concerns that their basement was experiencing water intrusion. They first suspected this after noticing a damp odor omitting from the basement especially during the rainier seasons, but even during the dryer weather they were experiencing humidity and musty odors so they called us up for a free estimate and inspection. We went out and thoroughly inspected the space and worked with them in creating a plan that will effectively address the issues created by the water intrusion.
First we create a trench around the interior perimeter of the basement using a jackhammer, and in this trench we place clean gravel rock and our WaterGuard system. This is a perimeter drainage system that will collect water from the walls as well as ground water and will drain it to the lowest point of the basement. At this low point we install our TripleSafe Sump system to gather all of the water and pump it outside of the home, away from the foundation through a discharge line. This system is then concreted over to provided a discreet look. Outside and connected to the discharge line we install our LawnScape outlet which is a grated drain that will allow water to pass through while keeping debris out. We also install a TrenchDrain which is tied into the perimeter drainage system outside of the exterior door to prevent water from entering. To establish a drain from the window well to the perimeter drainage system, we install our WellDuct. Along the walls we install out ThermalDry system that not only collects water from the walls and drains it to the WaterGuard but will help in maintaining a comfortable temperature throughout the space. Finally, we finish this project by installing our SaniDry XP dehumidifier that will eliminate damp and musty odors by drying and filtering the air as well as keeping the home at a healthy relative humidity.
