The owner of this home called on John's, after tiring of dealing with water intrusion into his basement for many years. The persistent water intrusion had caused erosion, had damaged countless stored items, and had made aesthetic finishing of his basement impossible. Additionally, the basement had developed a musty, heavy odor from the moisture entering through the walls - indicative of mold and mildew creating an unhealthy breathing environment. One phone call to our office was all it took to get the ball rolling on repairs for this homeowner! We quickly sent one of our highly trained Design Specialists to perform a thorough inspection. After completing his inspection, he verified each of the homeowners concerns in regards to water intrusion, and the damage it had caused. Next, he presented the homeowner with professional, effective waterproofing solutions to prevent further damage, and to protect the health and longevity of the family and their home - to which the homeowner excitedly agreed to. To waterproof the space, our crew installed several of our most effective waterproofing systems, which will all work together to protect the home. First, we cut a narrow trench into the concrete basement floor, right up against the leaking walls. Inside of the trench, we placed our WaterGuard Collection Tunnels to collect all wall water intrusion, and route it immediately to a SuperSump Pump installed at the lowest point inside of the basement. Once water reaches the pump, it will be expelled safely away from the home via an underground discharge line. Several of the windows in the basement were also leaking, so we installed Window Well Ducts beneath them, to catch all water intrusion, and carry it down, directly into the WaterGuard. To ensure that the WaterGuard System is held firmly in place, we poured fresh concrete right up against snd over, creating permanent and stable waterproofing capabilities. Lastly, our crew installed ThermalDry onto the leaking walls. ThermalDry is a double-sided wall covering that both waterproofs the walls, and reflects heat back into home, offering savings on energy costs. When water enters the basement walls, it will now be trapped behind the ThermalDry, and will cascade down its backside, straight into the WaterGuard. ThermalDry is rot, mold, and mildew resistant, and protects basements from water damage for many years, and is made to be finished over. This homeowner can now finish his basement walls with sheetrock, install flooring, storing items without worrying about water damage, and enjoy healthier air quality inside of his home!
