Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Water Intrusion Caused Many Issues- Portland, OR
Water can cause detrimental damage not only to the property, but the health of the homeowner as well. Moisture permeated through porous concrete which can lead to mold, and mildew, compromising air quality and creating damp and musty odors in the home. This finished basement had multiple issues that were caused by water intrusion, so these homeowners gave Johns a call and we went out to perform a free inspection and estimate to finally address these water issues and find them a permanent solution.
We began this project by removing the damaged wall then creating a trench around the perimeter of the basement to install our WaterGuard drainage. This is our perimeter drainage system, collecting both groundwater and water from the walls and directing it to the lowest point in the basement. At the low point we install our SuperSump Plus that will gather this water and pump it outside of the home through a discharge line making sure it's away from the foundation. This is then concreted over to provide a discreet look. Along the foundation wall, we install our ThermalDry system which will help direct any moisture down into the perimeter drainage system as well as help the space keep a comfortable temperature. This is installed to be finished over. We than placed a dehumidifier in the space to address excess moisture content within the air. Over the years this home began to settle and along with the water there we cracks in the foundation so our structural team then went out and installed our Helical Piers to help lift the home back to a stable position. Now that this basement is fully waterproofed the homeowners can refinish the space with peace of mind.
