When a basement begins to have issues with water intrusion, it is important to address it and find a permanent solution in a timely manner to avoid costly damages that will be harder to fix down the line. This homeowner had been dealing with foul, musty odors and knew that water was entering their homes basement, so they reached out to John's. We went out and thoroughly inspected this space to work on the best game plan to create a dry, stable and healthy basement. We first start by creating a trench around the interior perimeter of the basement using a jackhammer. Then, we install clean gravel rock and our WaterGuard system in this trench. This system is designed to collect water from the walls and well as groundwater and drain it to the lowest point of the space where we install our TripleSafe sump system. This pumps the gathered water outside of the home, away from the foundation through a discharge line. Outside of the home, we install our LawnScape Outlet which is a grated drain that will allow water to pass through while keeping debris out of the discharge line. Since this homeowner is going to remodel this space, we install our ThermalDry Radiant Barrier along the interior walls to help direct any moisture down the walls into the perimeter drainage system and will keep the temperature at a comfortable state. Lastly a SaniDry dehumidifier is placed in the basement to remove excess moisture from the air, keeping the spaces relative humidity healthy. Now that this basement is properly waterproofed, this homeowner can have peace of mind while making this a livable space for their family again.
