Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Permanently Fixing Water Issues in Basement- Portland. OR

This homeowner gave us a call when they were renovating their finished basement and found signs of water intrusion. They knew that water can cause detrimental damage so they scheduled their free visit and we went out to assess the space. Upon entering, there was a strong musty and damp odor with clear signs that water had invaded the space. There were big sections of the concrete walls, where the damaged drywall had been removed by the homeowners where years of moisture intrusion had festered. There were also harsh yellow water stains on the walls as well as efflorescence on the floor. These are the biggest indicators that a permanent solution is needed. After going over the best options for these homeowners we began the project. First, we use a jack hammer to create a trench around the interior perimeter of the basement and in the trench we install our WaterGuard. This is our perimeter drainage system that will collect water from the walls, and groundwater, and drain it to the lowest point. At this low point we install our TripleSafe Sump. This will gather all of the water and pump it outside of the home through a discharge line. This whole system is then concreted over to provide a discreet look.  Outside we then install our LawnScape Outlet that is a grated drain designed to let water to pass through while keeping debris out of the discharge line. We also install a TrenchDrain which is placed at the entry way of a door and connected to the perimeter drainage system. Along the walls, since this space is getting finished, we installed our ThermalDry radiant barrier. This material will not only direct any moisture down into the WaterGuard system but will help in keeping the space at a comfortable temperature. Now that this basement is dry healthy and stable, the homeowner can now have peace of mind while re-finishing this living area.
