Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Keep Water Out and Finish Your Basement - Portland, OR
This homeowner had noticed that some saw dust was coming up between some floorboards in their finished basement. Then, they experienced a day with heavy rain and found that water was seeping in through their floor in the same spot where the saw dust was before. This had them searching for water damage and they discovered some moisture damage to their walls and reached out to John's Waterproofing about getting their basement waterproofed. To begin the process, we first had to remove the flooring and the below grade walls. We then needed to install a drainage system. We do this by jackhammering along the interior perimeter and installing WaterGuard. This is a drainage pipe that sits at the footing of the basement and collects water that tries to enter and offers it a safe passageway as opposed to letting it just flood into the space. Then, we installed a SuperSump Plus sump pump that takes all the water from the WaterGuard and pushes it out and away from the homes foundation. Because the homeowner wanted their basement to be a finished once again, we installed ThermalDry along the walls. This is a heat and vapor barrier made for finished spaces. It is made of waterproof material that helps to guide moisture down below to the drainage system. We anchor it to the walls and seal with thick waterproof tape. It is even shingled to the WaterGuard to ensure secure passage of water from the walls to the drainage system. A SaniDry dehumidifier was then installed to address any excess moisture in the air. We then completed the process by adding drywall so that the homeowner can use this space however they want without the worry of water seeping through.
Before Basement Waterproofing.
Before the basement waterproofing system, the homeowner experienced water continuing to seep up through the floor as well as through the walls and cause structural damage to their home.
Installing WaterGuard at the Base of the Basement.
WaterGuard is installed along the footing of the basement and is a drainage pipe that collects water that tries to enter and sends it to a sump pump.
ThermalDry Installed Along Foundation Walls.
We install the ThermalDry heat and vapor barrier between the walls and wood framing to help guide moisture to the drainage system and ensure the basement stays dry.
Finishing the Basement with Drywall.
After the waterproofing system is installed, we finish the basement with drywall so that more usable and dry space is added to the home.
