Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Damp to Dry: Full Basement Waterproofing - Portland, OR
Experiencing a wet basement is every homeowner's worst nightmare. It increases exposure to mold and mildew, while also limiting the amount of usable space in your home. For this homeowner, they were tired of water constantly seeping through and not being able to use their basement the way they dreamed. They decided to call John's Waterproofing and get the basement waterproofed before it was too late. To begin, we needed to control the passage of water so that it would stop seeping through and into the space. To do this, we installed a drainage system using WaterGuard. WaterGuard is a drainage pipe that gets installed along the interior perimeter of the basement. We jackhammer a trench so that the pipe can sit at the footing of the basement and collect water from the ground and the walls. Once it is installed, the pipe is lined with gravel so that water can easily filter through and prevent clogging. It is covered with concrete with exposed inspection ports that way homeowners can have a discreet drainage system, while also being able to inspect the pipe and make sure water is flowing through it smoothly. The WaterGuard connects to the TripleSafe sump pump. This pump takes all the collected water from the pipe and safely pushes it out of the basement and away from the homes foundation. With these two working together to keep the basement dry, then we can install a wall system. Since the owners want to finish the space we installed ThermalDry. This is installed along the basement walls as a heat and vapor barrier. It is anchored to the walls and sealed with waterproof tape so that nothing can seep through. It acts as more of a guide for moisture on the walls to be sent down below to the drainage system. Now that the basement is fully waterproofed, the homeowner can finish and enjoy the added space to their home.
Cracks in Basement Walls.
The cracks in the basement walls are indicators of where water was pushing through, adding pressure, so that the walls paint would bubble up and crack.
