Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Beach House Gets Basement Waterproofing - Seaside, OR
The owner of this property wanted to start using it as a beach house for the family to use in the summer time. Unfortunately, the basement was completely destroyed due to years of moisture damage. Wanting a solution quickly before this upcoming warm season, they reached out to John's Waterproofing to solve the moisture issues and waterproof the basement. To begin, we first needed to install a drainage system so that there could be a safe passageway for water to exit the basement. This is done by jackhammering a trench along the interior perimeter to install a WaterGuard drainage pipe into. This pipe sits at the footing of the basement and collects any moisture from the walls or rising groundwater and sends it to a sump pump. The SuperSump Plus sump pump then takes all that collected water and securely pushes it out and away from the homes foundation. In order to protect the walls from future water seeping through, a CleanSpace wall vapor barrier is installed. This liner is 20 mil thick and made with woven fibers that make it durable against water intrusion. It is even backed by a 25 year warranty against rips and tears. After this entire system is installed, now the basement is fully waterproofed and ready to stay dry and healthy for many summers to come.
Significant Water Damage.
As noticeable in this photo, this basement experienced several years worth of water intrusion that destroye the walls causing cracks and discoloration in the foundation.
Installing WaterGuard.
The WaterGuard drainage pipe sits at the footing of the basement to collect water that tries to enter and offers a safe passageway to flow through. It is lined with gravel to allow water to filter through easily and prevent clogging.
Covering WaterGuard System.
To offer homeowners a discreet and effective drainage system, the WaterGuard drainage pipe gets covered over top with concrete.
SuperSump Plus Sending Water Out.
The SuperSump Plus sump pump connects to the WaterGuard to take all the collected water and securely push it out of the basement and away from the homes foundation through a discharge line.
CleanSpace Wall System.
Lastly, the CleanSpace Wall vapor barrier helps to protect water from seeping through to keep the basement dry and healthy.
