Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Leaky and Discolored Basement Walls - Bellingham, WA
This homeowner was experiencing water intrusion at the footing of their basement. It was beginning to ruin their floors and cause discoloration along the walls. They decided to call John's Waterproofing about possible solutions to keeping the water from getting in. We informed the homeowners that a basement waterproofing system would offer the best long-term solution at keeping their home dry and healthy. First, we needed to install a drainage system that could redirect the passage of water and prevent it from puddling inside the basement. This is done by installing a WaterGuard drainage pipe. This pipe goes along the interior perimeter and sits at the footing of the basement. Its purpose is to collect any water that tries to seep through, whether that's from the walls or the floors, and offer a safe passageway for it to flow through. The WaterGuard gets lined with gravel and sits high enough in the trench to be out of the mud zone, which helps ensure it won't get clogged. Once the WaterGuard is installed it connects to a TripleSafe sump pump. This three pump system is capable of controlling the collected water and securely pump it out of the basement and away from the homes foundation. It is even equipped with a backup battery-operated pump so that it will keep the basement dry in the event of a power outage. On the side of the basement where the TripleSafe was, a CleanSpace wall vapor barrier was installed. This is a heavy duty liner that is made with woven fibers to prevent water from being able to seep through. Its durability is so trusted that it is backed by a 25 year warranty against rips and tears. On the opposite side of the basement where the owners wanted a semi-finished space, we installed BrightWall. This is a white paneling that offers homeowners a semi-finished look. It is designed to protect against moisture from getting into the basement by acting as a guide down below to the WaterGuard drainage system. Once this entire basement waterproofing system is completed, the homeowner will no longer have to worry about their basement and it will stay dry.
Discoloration from Water Seeping Through.
This basement had experienced several years worth of water seeping through the basement walls and at the footing. It resulted in cracks and discoloration in the foundation.
TripleSafe and CleanSpace Keeping Basement Dry.
The TripleSafe sump pump is able to safely take any water that tries to intrude and pushes it out and away from the homes foundation through a discharge line. Then, the CleanSpace wall vapor barrier keeps the walls protected and isolated.
Discreet Drainage System.
The WaterGuard is placed at the footing of the basement and covered with concrete so that homeowners can enjoy a discreet, yet effective, drainage system.
