Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Cracks in the Basement Walls - Eugene, OR
Back in 2022, this homeowner had reached out to John's Waterproofing worried about the water coming into their basement. We informed the homeowners that the issue would persist if a waterproofing system was not installed, but they opted to wait it out and see if the issue would resolve itself. Then, in 2025 the same homeowner called back saying the issue had only worsened and they were ready to commit to the basement waterproofing system. First, we had to install a drainage system by jackhammering a trench along the interior perimeter of the basement. This creates a space for the WaterGuard to be installed into. It's important that the WaterGuard sits at the footing of the basement and is lined with gravel for easy water filtration and preventing clogging. Once the WaterGuard is installed, it gets covered over top with concrete to offer homeowners a discreet drainage pipe. Connecting to the WaterGuard, a TripleSafe sump pump is installed. This is the device that actually takes in all the collected water from the WaterGuard and safely pumps it out of the basement and away from the homes foundation. It is capable of controlling mass volumes of water at a time due to it being equipped with 3 heavy duty Zoeller pumps. One of the pumps is even a backup battery-operated pump that turns on in the case of a power outage so that no matter what the basement will stay dry. In order to protect the walls, BrightWall is installed. This is a white paneling that provides a semi-finished look. Its purpose is to guide any moisture from the existing basement walls down below to the drainage system to be pumped out. With this full system completed, the homeowner was beyond relieved knowing their basement would be able to survive another rainy season.
Cracks in Basement Walls from Water.
As water pushes up against the foundation, it creates pressure along the basement walls that eventually puddles up through the paint and cracks the walls.
Easy Access for Water Intrusion.
Once these cracks form in the basement walls, it makes it incredibly easy for water to continue seeping through and only making the water intrusion worse.
Digging the WaterGuard Trench.
The first step is jackhammering a trench along the interior perimeter of the basement for the WaterGuard drainage pipe to be installed into.
TripleSafe Sump Pump
The WaterGuard then collects any water intrusion and sends it to the TripleSafe sump pump. From there, the sump pump can safely push all that water out of the basement and away from the homes foundation through a discharge line.
BrightWall and Waterproofed Basement.
The last step is installing BrightWall to the basement walls. This guides moisture down below to the drainage system to be pumped out so that the basement can remain dry and healthy.
