When moisture is a constant issue in the crawl space, this can lead to a plethora of issues. For this home it meant that the old fiberglass insulation was water logged and drooping from the HVAC systems. There was also a significant amount of debris that had been caked over the old vapor barrier, and a few wooden posts were damp, but not quite yet irreparable. To get the space healthy we would install a full waterproofing system. We installed a interior perimeter drain system which would collect groundwater and channel it to a newly installed TripleSafe sump pump. From here the water is discharged away from the home. TerraBlock insulation was than laid over the dirt floor and CleanSpace wrapped over it. CleanSpace is a 20 Mil vapor barrier with a woven fiber through it which helps to make it more durable and helps it to protect your home.
This homes crawlspace dirt floor was moist to the touch, and mold spores were creeping up some of the wood. To address the issue we installed a full encapsulation system to keep this space dry and healthy.
This homeowners crawlspace had a humidity issue. Because of this water would be absorbed into the fiberglass insulation and mold spores would grow. The homeowners needed to change out the fiberglass and treat the mold every few years to keep on top of it. The were done with the constant upkeep and after searching online, decided to call up John's Waterproofing for an encapsulation.
This homeowner was having issues with water and rodents in the crawl space and wanted a permanent solution, so they reached out to John's Waterproofing to get the job done. After our design specialist finished the free inspection and estimate, he met with the homeowner and went over some options for this space. They decided that an encapsulation was the best route. To begin, we remove all the debris from the space. Next, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space, in which we lay down a 3 inch perforated pipe into a silt sock. This secures a passage for the water to safely drain to the SuperSump Plus Pump. We install a discharge line outside to drain the water away from the homes foundation. We then install our TerraBlock system directly on the dirt floor of the crawl space. On top of our TerraBlock system, we install our CleanSpace. This goes all along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists and is sealed at the footing of the wooden posts with our heavy duty waterproof tape. All the vents in this space are then sealed to prevent outside air from entering. Then to keep the environment at a healthy relative humidity, we install our SaniDry Sedona, which eliminates damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air all while promoting healthy air throughout the home. Lastly, our foam insulation is sprayed along the foundation walls, up to the rim joists creating a complete air tight seal, ensuring protection from water, pests and rodents for years to come.
Not all crawlspaces look gruesome (although not necessarily pretty) this does not mean they do not have issues. This space had moisture which was causing mold to grow on their homes beams eating the foundation. Now thanks to crawlspace encapsulation with the use of our Clean space this family has a clean crawlspace where mold cannot grow. They also chose the Silverglo rigid foam wall insulation. This helps to increase the homes energy savings and general performance. We were happy to be able to give them a healthy encapsulated crawlspace as well as reduced heating and cooling bills.
