Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

This humid, dark and debris filled crawl space is the perfect environment for rodents and pests to thrive. With moisture entering the crawl space, the fiberglass insulation on the subfloor above began sagging over the years, which is what the rodents would use to nest. This leads to a strong musty and unpleasant odor year round that carries throughout the living space above. They needed a solution that would not only keep out these rodents but will provide a dry, stable and healthy crawl space. We went out and thoroughly inspected this crawl space and went over the best options with the homeowner to create a plan that would address all of the issues.

We begin this project by removing all of the debris, including the old fiberglass insulation and vapor barrier. Next, we dug a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space, and in this trench we place our 3 inch perforated pipe into a silt sock to create a secure passage for any water that enters to drain to the lowest point, where we then install our TripleSafe. This system collects water that enters and pumps it outside of the home through a discharge line. Following this, we cover all of the vents and seal them shut. This prevents outside air from entering as well as deterring rodents from easy entry. On the dirt floor of the crawl space we install TerraBlock to create an insulated barrier between the home and the earth. On top of the TerraBlock system, between each post and footing, and anchored into the foundation walls we install our 20 mil thick CleanSpace. This is sealed with our heavy duty CleanSpace tape. This barrier is tear resistant, and is manufactured with an anti-microbial additive called UltraFresh that will block any musty or damp odors and with its white finish, it completely brightens this crawl space transforming it completely. To finish this crawl space install a dehumidifier, and we spray our foam insulation onto the foundation walls, up to the rim joists to provide an airtight seal. Now that this crawl space is transformed into a dry, healthy and stable one, these homeowners can have peace of mind knowing that they won't have issues with rodents or water intrusion for years to come.

You can never gain control of an interior space if you keep letting unconditioned, outside air into it. Most crawl space doors leak air and ones that are below grade leak water, and many people don't know that there is a real solution for this problem. These homeowners reached out because this crawl space was in need of several repairs and their exterior access was their main concern. We went out and thoroughly inspected it, and worked with the homeowners in created a game plan that will address all of these issues. We began the project and installed a full encapsulation with a perimeter drainage system and sealed all of the vents. We then installed our TerraBlock insulation and CleanSpace 20 mil liner in order to keep the crawl space dry, stable and healthy. This pairs with Spray Foam along the foundation walls and a SaniDry dehumidifier to maintain a healthy relative humidity throughout the space. To provide a clean and convenient access to the crawl space, we install our Turtl system. This is made of plastic so it will never rot, rust, or corrode and is built to last. This system combines the exterior crawl space access and an airtight door in one sturdy unit. It will keep animals, leaves, and weeds out of the well and one of the most important features is the ability for it to lock. It is fastened to the foundation with concrete screws. Now when the homeowners want to enter their crawl space they just lift the door up and go in through the clean inside of the Turtl.
